About us · Our mission
A fairer standard
starts with facts.
Equal Standard documents gender-based double standards, especially those affecting men in employment and public life, and helps people understand and use their rights.
One standard
The same evidence and conduct standards, whoever is involved.
Evidence first
Original sources, full context and visible methods.
Independent
No one can buy coverage or veto a substantiated finding.
Fair to everyone
Including the people and institutions we write about.
Mission
Make inconsistent standards visible, and challengeable
We make it easier to identify, document, compare and challenge inconsistent standards in sex-based discrimination and workplace discipline. Our value comes from verifiable evidence, fair context and proportional accountability, not from volume or outrage.
We are not a harassment directory, a campaign to get anyone fired, or a substitute for legal advice.
Editorial principles
- Apply the same evidentiary and conduct standards regardless of sex.
- Distinguish criticism of behaviour or institutions from prejudice against a sex.
- Separate direct quotes, allegations, interpretations and established findings.
- Present relevant context, responses, corrections and contrary evidence.
- Never encourage harassment, retaliation, threats, doxxing or pressure on anyone's employer.
- Treat everyone, including the people named in the archive, with fairness and dignity.
- Publish only after human editorial review. Nothing submitted is published automatically.
Editorial independence
Donors, sponsors, directors and the people we write about cannot buy favourable coverage or veto a substantiated finding. Opinion is kept separate from research.
Organisational status
Equal Standard is a proposed British Columbia not-for-profit. It is not yet incorporated, is not a registered charity and cannot issue tax receipts. This page will be updated when that changes.
Governance
Directors will be listed here once appointed, together with our conflict-of-interest, complaints and records policies. Transparency
